The 1972-1973 school year.

It was different from any other.

Daring and bold in everything we did,

We made it a year of fun

and excitement. Everything was an adventure never

to be forgotten — f or . . .

June 6th, 1973 — A warm but very memorable evening. There
were speeches for prodding us on and making us think; about
goals in the future and fond memories of the past. Seniors
played with the band for the last time and came to realize .ill
that Mr. Odmark had done for them. Finally, when the last
strains of the traditional Alma Mater faded into silence. tcar->
shone in many eyes as caps were thrown into the air and 1 10
thumbs went up. So left the Class of 1973 from the halls of
C.H.S. to go on to other halls in many separate directions
Farewell and Good Luck!

The 1972-1973 school year.
There were good times
and then — there were the bad times.
Those boring days and weeks
and those — educating ones?
A fun-filled but bittersweet year
that had all the makings
of one that could NEVER be
forgotten — f or . . .

7fc& f$7ta/Yfe^7kafcU/a$

This was the year that was for all Seniors hopefully the last year of high school and
the beginning of a new life. It was the year of high hopes, some that were fulfilled,
some that were lost in the confusion of too many activities or too few such as high
hopes for a fantastic senior trip and settling for Cedar Point.

This was the year that found many Seniors
voting and waiting for the golden age of 18,
of course in which to register.

This was the year of hard work and frost-
bitten hands and feet and the Xmas Tree Sale.
Homecoming float, car wash, bake sales, pop
and candy machines, the juke box, and the
"Name the Feet" contest.

This was the year of changing. There is now
an ex-of ficio on the School Board. We tried
to abolish Baccalaureate, but in the age of
communicating through what seems to be
empty ceremonies, we proved that one needs
a moment to express himself and his ideas to
the community.

Looking forward, yet never forgetting where
we have passed before. Looking ahead to
something new . . . This Is The Year That
Was. . .

"gut level" was our principal, Mr. Smith, with his secretary, Mrs. Grubaugh, and her
assistants doing the dirty work. Then there was the man we all looked up to with real
awe — the ever smiling Mr. Miller. Preparing us for the rough world were our
Business and Vocational department consisting of Ms. Fassett, Mrs. Robinson, Ms.
Odmark, Mr. Mills, and Mr. Anderson. Our counselors. Dr. Ratigan and Ms.

It was a great year for auto mechanics, even with a girl in the class, but Mr. McLennon took it all in stride to produce a fine gang of

would-be mechanics.

Our popular social science department contains Mr. Burge, Mr. Carey, and Mr. Green. They succeeded in filling young minds with

many interesting facts.

Our immortal English department, composed of Mr. Robinson, Mrs. Kohn, Mrs. Novak, Ms. Gibelyou, Ms. Ryswick, and Ms.

Ford, led many students through interesting novels, essays, and poems. Keep up the good work everyone!

It took a lot of hard work to make it, and that's what's
important. When you were working for it, really working
hard, you weren't sure anything was worth that kind of work.
But when the honors came, when you earned that award, you
knew that all the trouble you went through to earn it was
worth it. And you'd do it all again if you had to.

Last time for many, just a beginning for others. What
did our guys do? In football they got on the field and
sweat for the school while keeping a steady pace of
down-ups. Our golfers were on the course puttuv those
little white balls trying to make the hole for a higher
score.

Cross Country was added to the growing list of fall
sports this year. Every night they got out and ran up
Mt. McSiubi. ccvst. M:. McSauba, around to Suicide,
up Suicide, down the back, up the back, down the front
hill, up the front hill, down the back and along the
beach all the way home.

Now how's that for a little exercise each day?! This has

beer, a hare season but well worth it.

filled with a lot of trying games, some wins
and a lot of losses. The Wrestling team had a
fantastic season sending two of its Varsity

down to compete in the State Finals. This is

placed 4th in the Conference with Cheryl

The girls* basketball team had a great

While the rest of the school was bored with winter, the clubs
in CHS were very- busy, or kept busy.

The Debate /Forensics class was bringing money in for their
odds and ends of activities while the student council slaved
over selling light bulbs somewhat unsuccessfully. Campus
Life won the Sweetheart contest for the 5th year in a row. The
new Glee Club featured a "Night of Entertainment." Pep
Club kept the school plastered with peppy posters and the
cheerleaders cheered the school into high spirits. The Spanish
Club added to the excitement with a "visita a Pedro da Vinci"
skit at the pep meeting.

The flash staff kept the presses rolling while also being
recruited by the Annual Staff to type copy. Everyone did their
own thing, and had fun doing it.

"Raise your head and hold it high," one of the favorite slogans of the
marching band, helped them to make it through a fantastic year of
marching. The band, under the direction of Mr. Stutzman, traveled to
N.M.U. and showed their footwork and music at many games.
